The ages from about 16 to 35 are very exciting and challenging. Many people graduate from high school, go to college, get married, have children, and choose careers during these years.

The beliefs and habits are formed, as well as the educational, vocational, and relational decisions that are made during this time have a significant influence on the rest of our lives.

Psychotherapy can be a very useful tool to assist us to handle these challenges well.

The significance of all these milestones can come with crises and anxiety. We wonder what the consequences are of making the wrong decision. We also may find that our values and goals are not the same as our parents, families, or community. We can also find that our talents or personality are not celebrated by people close to us and this can be very challenging.

There is also the concern about time. We want to be successful academically, or in the arts or athletics, but we also feel the need to have a healthy social life.

Maybe you are excelling, but you are having anxiety. Maybe things are going well, but you’re having trouble getting to the next level of reaching your goals. Or, maybe you’re struggling significantly and feel lost, and you are resorting to behaviors which are causing you problems.

Life doesn’t stand still as we work to reach our goals and become our true selves, and sometimes very difficult events can cause us to struggle. These events can be trauma, death, illness, loss of romantic relationships or parent’s divorce.
